In August, staff from Assurant Solutions's Marketing team took time out from their hectic schedules to spend the day helping out at the Douglas McMillan Hospice in Stoke-on-Trent.
In wind, rain and shine the army of volunteers undertook a wide variety of activities including painting, gardening, laying patios, supporting shop and reception staff, and then even joined forces at the end of the day to build a summerhouse.
This fantastic team effort has meant that Assurant Solutions are well on track to achieve our Corporate Social Responsibility volunteering work time bank target of 1,100 hours by the end of the year having now hit the 1,000 hour mark.
Assurant Solutions’s Head of Marketing, Mark Read, who organised the day at the Douglas Macmillan Hospice said: “The team have made a huge difference to those at the Douglas Macmillan Hospice and it was an extremely rewarding experience for everyone involved."
Read, added: “The team at the hospice were so grateful that we made such a big difference in such a short space of time, transforming the landscape and improving the environment for both the terminally ill or palliative patients.”
The Douglas Macmillan Hospice was established 40 years ago and is a care facility for people suffering from incurable cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. The hospice provides specialist care such as Physiotherapy, Diversional Therapies, and Bereavement Support, as well as having three community lodges on site.
